EastEnders newcomer Ellen Thomas, who plays Claudette, has promised viewers can expect to see her mysterious alter-ego’s on-screen-family introduced.

Currently, little is known about Thomas’ character – other than that she is Les Coker’s mistress whom he has been arranging secret meetings with behind wife Pam’s back.

Speaking to the Daily Star Sunday, Thomas said: “This character is the bee’s knees. She’s got bottle. We’re filming scenes to introduce her family now. Claudette is a foster mother, she’s fostered children for the last 30 years.

“She’s fostered the kind of children nobody else wants – tough cookies. Now any challenge she has, she just calls them and they’re in there.”

The actress added: “It’s a brilliant opportunity to bring new characters in. We go from robbers, bad ’uns, to the high-ranking – bankers and execs, all different races, male and female. It’s a brilliant idea. They’re going to walk in and go ‘Mum’!”
Speaking about the possibility of becoming the ‘new Peggy Mitchell’, she said: “That’s what we’re thinking – let’s wait and see!”
