Jean Slater to return to EastEnders

Gillian Wright is returning to EastEnders to play Jean Slater once again, in her second guest stint since her departure two years ago.

Wright announced she would be departing EastEnders in 2013, and bowed out later that year when Jean finally found the man of her dreams, Ollie, and moved to Brighton to start a new life away from the dramas of Walford.

However, Jean returned to Albert Square last year to try to convince her daughter, Stacey Branning, to appeal her five year prison sentence. When Jean heard Kat and Alfie talking about her negatively, she attempted suicide and was then sent to a psychiatric hospital in Brighton.

Jean’s next stint, set to air in the coming weeks, sees her getting married to Ollie – according to recent tabloid reports.

Wright was spotted on location sporting a ‘Bride to be’ t-shirt, and was joined by her on-screen daughter and friends.

Pictured in the new behind the scenes images are Shirley (Linda Henry), Martin (James Bye) and Stacey (Lacey Turner).

But will Jean’s wedding go ahead as planned?!

EastEnders continues tonight at 8pm on BBC One and BBC One HD.
