In last night’s visit to Walford, Kathy Beale made another surprising return.
Kathy, who is thought to have died almost ten years ago, was seen meeting up with her ex-husband Phil Mitchell at the Victoria Road Café.
Gillian Taylforth was last seen in the role of Kathy a whopping fifteen years ago, until she made a surprising return a shocking return three months ago for EastEnders’ ‘Live Week’.
In last night’s episode, Phil received yet another call from Kathy. Soon after, viewers were treated to another glimpse of Kathy – ahead of her full time return later this year.
Phil handed Kathy a hefty sum of cash, before telling her he could no longer continue to help her… but with what?
When Kathy left Walford, it was revealed she married Gavin Sullivan – who is yet to be seen on-screen. When Phil asked Kathy if her husband suspected anything, she told Phil: “Do you think I’d still be standing if he did?”
Speaking to Radio Times, EastEnders executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins said: “We know that there was a Gavin that she went off with. It’s a big, big story with a lot of twists and turns, as you’ve come to expect from us.
“There’s Gavin, Kathy and there’s a lot of Phil involved. It’s going to draw in lots of different families from around the Square and it’s not going to be easy for her to come back.”
EastEnders continues tomorrow night at 7.30pm on BBC One and BBC One HD.
