New suspect in Lucy Beale case

Developments in the Lucy Beale case leave the Beale’s stunned, next week on EastEnders.

Lucy Beale (Hetti Bywater) may have been murdered months ago, but the huge “who-done-it” storyline is still at loose ends. Many of the Square’s residents were suspected of killing Lucy before viewers discovered during the February Live Week episodes that it was little Bobby (Eliot Carrington) who had accidentally killed his sister.

Ian (Adam Woodyatt) and Jane (Laurie Brett) have spent all their time trying to keep what Bobby had done a secret. They have tried everything they can think of to get their family lives back to normal, even giving up their plans to adopt baby Beth when Cindy (Mimi Keene) threatened to reveal the truth.

But as far as the rest of Albert Square are concerned-the circumstances surrounding Lucy’s death are still a mystery.

But the murder investigation is about to return to the forefront, as the police have new leads and are determined to make an arrest.

Ian’s world starts to unravel again when he and Martin (James Bye) discover that new developments in Lucy’s case have made front page news in The London Telegraph — and it isn’t long before other residents have seen the paper as well.

Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean) and Pam Coker (Lin Blakley) are also stunned when they read the newspaper headlines in the Minute Mart.

The news will wreck havoc and leave the close knit community stunned.

Speaking about the upcoming summer storyline, EastEnders boss Dominic Treadwell-Collins has said: “We’d been resting the story a little bit to let everyone get a breather. But it’s going to kick up a notch with a big arrest that’s going to take us through into September. And a few old faces are returning for that.”

Viewers have since learned that Detective Chief Inspector Jill Marsden (Sophie Stanton) will be returning to help solve the investigation.

EastEnders airs these scenes on 16th & 17th July on BBC One.
