It’s a brief moment of happiness between Abi and her sister when a very pregnant Lauren surprises her with a visit. The sisters embrace as Sharon and Phil watch.
But as we know, happiness doesn’t last in Walford and it doesn’t take long for Lauren to confront her sister to try to persuade her not to give evidence against their father, Max.
Max’s trial promises to be very exciting and Lauren’s return will be pivotal because she knows that Bobby is the person responsible for Lucy’s death. Lauren had promised her boyfriend Peter that she would keep quiet when he shared the news with her about his brother. Now that her father is being charged with murder, this promise is one that we don’t think Lauren will be able to keep.
Lauren has her work cut out for her as she later tries to convince Cora not to give testimony either. As Cora refuses her granddaughter’s plea to help, the police arrive to take Cora to court as everyone in the Queen Vic looks on.
Max pleads not guilty as the trial commences.
Cora then gives her testimony and points to Max.
Marcus Christie quizzes Abi as she takes the stand – but will she stick with her story or change her mind and side with her father?
Later, Lauren goes to visit Max in prison. Is she about to tell her father what really happened to Lucy that fateful night?
It has been hinted that Jane has worked with Marcus Christie to give Max an alibi. With the former Mitchell solicitor to represent him and Lauren back and fighting his cause, surely Max’s future is looking brighter? Dominic Treadwell-Collins has teased viewers, saying that the trial will be filled with twists and turns. Be prepared to expect the unexpected!
