Ricky Norwood to leave his role of Fatboy Chubb

Fans of Arthur “Fatboy” Chubb will be gutted to hear the news today that Ricky Norwood is leaving the role he has played on EastEnders for almost 6 years.

Fatboy first appeared in EastEnders in 2010 and was also featured in the spin off EastEnders E20 before becoming a regular in Walford. With a few romances under his belt and his most recent liason with Donna (Lisa Hammond), fans seem to be most upset with the fact that Dot (June Brown) will be losing one of her main supporters and confidant.

During his tenure in the soap, Norwood has won the Inside Soap Best Newcomer award and the NTA award for Most Popular Newcomer. Representatives from EastEnders have confirmed that he will be leaving when his contract is up but have not confirmed exactly when that will be.

An EastEnders spokesperson told Digital Spy: “We can confirm that Ricky will be leaving EastEnders. We wish him all the best for the future.”

A show insider added: “Ricky is a great guy and very popular on set. He’s leaving the show as it’s the end of Fatboy’s storyline, but everyone wishes him well for the future.”
