Matt Di Angelo has quit EastEnders and will bow out in early 2016.
Di Angleo returned to EastEnders last year on a one-year contract after a six year absence. He later signed another 12 month deal.
Since his return last year, Dean has been involved in some of the soap’s biggest storylines – such as raping Queen Vic landlady Linda Carter.
An insider told The Mirror: “Matt’s exit will be explosive. Viewers are in for a nail-biting treat. We’re giving nothing away but there’s lots more drama to come.”
The series’ executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins said: “There is justice. And how it’s meted out will be satisfying but shocking too.”
An EastEnders spokesperson commented: “We can confirm that Matt will be leaving and we wish him all the best.”
