Speaking about the shock twist, Taylforth said: “Kathy had no idea, and she still doesn’t believe it after this episode. It’s only a few episodes later when Sharon starts talking to her dad that she realises it’s true.
“But I think Sharon believes it. She’s always said that she would walk into a room and know straight away. And when he said those words ‘Hello Princess’, it all hits home.
“We had the full scripts but the other cast members didn’t know what was going on. Paul was fantastic delivering that line.”
Kathy and Gavin, shortly before that scene.
The actress also revealed that viewers can soon expect to find out more about twisted Gavin’s past in the coming months.
She went on: “I don’t know what’s going to happen. Ben says Kathy is still being brainwashed, but she gets to a point where she says, ’You know what — end of, I want to be with my family, no going back’.
“My sympathy is with Kathy still. At times I thought ‘I really don’t like this!’.
“But if you’ve been in that situation where you’ve been controlled so much by somebody and over years been told you’re worthless, you’re nothing, nobody will want you, you’re a bad mother — it sticks. I do understand her reasons.”
When asked whether or not Kathy could end up killing her husband, she said: “I don’t know. Men like that just keep on all the time. Gavin’s mindset is: If I can’t have you, no one else will.
Teasing the future, the actress said:“[However] Ben or Bobby could get rid of him!”
