EastEnders bosses have promised that Stacey Branning’s story line is set to intensify, to coincide with the BBC’s “In The Mind” week, which began last night an is focusing on mental health awareness.
Stacey has been struggling with postpartum psychosis since having baby Arthur and things aren’t going to get any easier for her or for Martin in the weeks to come.
With an opening in a Mother Baby Unit finally becoming available, we briefly see things look up for the pair, but it soon sours when Martin is mistakenly given a letter that Stacey has written which she had decided not to send.
When he reads it, his world comes crashing down around him as he finds out that he is not Arthur’s biological father.
Distraught, Martin goes to the hospital to talk to Stacey. Stacey is devastated when Martin tells her he knows the truth and tries to explain herself to Martin but will he be able to come to terms with all he hears?
James Bye who plays Martin Fowler has hinted that the scenes are going to be ones we won’t want to miss. Speaking with Inside Soap magazine he said “I think it’s going to be an implode or explode situation for Martin”. He added: “If it was me, I wouldn’t be able to get my head around it. I’ve got kids myself so it’s not something I ever want to think about!”
Will this be the end of Martin and Stacey’s relationship or can they put the past behind them and build a future together with Arthur?
Tune in next week to find out! EastEnders airs these scenes on 22 and 23 February on BBC One and BBC One HD.
