While Peggy may have died over a month ago onscreen, the Mitchell family haven’t been able to have a funeral for her, until next week on EastEnders.
The family are still coming to terms with the loss of their beloved matriarch, and on the morning of the funeral, Phil becomes emotional while looking through old photos, leaving Sharon to comfort him.
The Mitchells later gather outside, including the newly returned Sam Mitchell, as they wait for the funeral procession to arrive.
As Peggy’s funeral procession is lead through Albert Square, many of the residents stand to respect as it passes by.
At the church, Phil, Ben, and Billy help to carry the coffin into the church, and the congregation stand as it’s brought into the church.
As the service continues, Phil struggles to hold it together, and his family look on in support as he reads his eulogy to Peggy.
After the service, Peggy’s coffin is lowered into the ground as the family gather.
Once the funeral has ended, the Mitchells, along with the residents of Albert Square, all gather at The Queen Vic for Peggy’s wake.
Viewers may remember that upon Sam Mitchell’s last stint in Walford, she had an affair with Jack, and had his baby.
At the wake, Jack approaches Sam and asks her if Richard (Henri Kirkham) knows who he is.
Sam brings Richard over to meet Jack and Ronnie at Number 27, and she introduces him. Jack then tries to bond with his son.
A struggling Sam later confides in her cousin Roxy, as she then tries to reason with Sam about her decision to abandon Richard with Jack.
Will Sam listen to Roxy’s advice?
EastEnders airs these scenes all next week on BBC One.
