Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) receives the shocking news that she has chlamydia next week, leaving her with serious trust issues with Lee regarding how she contracted the infection.
EastEnders viewers will remember Ben Mitchell first contracted chlamydia on a drunken night out, which he later passed to Abi Branning, who cheated on him with Lee in order to try and get pregnant to keep her gay boyfriend. Eventually, Lee unknowingly passed it onto Whitney.
If left untreated, pregnant women can be susceptible to stillbirth, miscarriage or other complications.
When Mick hears that Lee is feeling doubtful about becoming a father, he tries to talk to his son about what’s troubling him.
In a bid to spend time with his son, Mick talks to him on his market stall about what it is really like to be a dad.
The drama kicks off for the couple when Lee opens up to Martin Fowler, sharing his fears about becoming a dad. Martin, who himself only became a father at 15, has a heart-to-heart with him about his worries.
When visiting the doctor, Whitney is horrified to learn she has chlamydia. She’s made aware of the severity of the issues, especially since she is pregnant.
But the question on everyone’s lips is will the baby be okay, and will Whitney forgive Lee for his infidelity?
EastEnders airs these scenes all next week on BBC One.
