Buster Briggs, the biological father of Mick Carter and childhood sweetheart of Shirley Carter, is to leave Albert Square, Digital Spy have exclusively revealed.

Former Brush Strokes actor Karl Howman joined the soap in 2014, when his alter-ego’s identity was kept under wraps to surprise fans. Buster was later revealed to be the father to both Mick and Dean.

Since then, Buster and Shirley have given their relationship another go. Unbeknownst to her, though, he’s been having a secret affair with Kathy Beale.
