EastEnders’ resident hunky builder Andy Flynn, played by Jack Derges, is set to leave the Square for good very soon.
Andy first appeared in March this year, in what appeared to be a guest stint. However, although bosses did not make any official announcement over Derges’ casting, he soon became involved in a major storyline for Ronnie Mitchell, which is due to culminate in the coming weeks.
An EastEnders spokesperson confirmed Derges was leaving, saying: “The character of Andy was created for a specific storyline which is currently coming to the end. We wish Jack all the best for the future.”
“When Andy arrived in Walford, viewers didn’t realise that he was hiding a dark secret but over the past few weeks it has become clear that his intentions towards Ronnie and her family are not what they seem,” an insider teased to Radio Times. “Andy was only ever going to be in Walford for this storyline which bosses kept under wraps as they didn’t want to spoil the storyline for the viewers but it’s fair to say there is more drama to come before Andy leaves Walford.”
Now Ronnie has discovered that Andy is actually Gareth Jones (Dannielle’s adoptive brother) will Andy be leaving in a black cab or in a coffin?
Viewers will have to keep watching to find out!
EastEnders continues Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
