It’s a tense day for Queen Vic landlady Linda Carter and Roxy Mitchell next week, when Dean Wicks’ trial for the latter’s rape finally arrives.
Viewers will know that almost two years ago, Dean (played by Matt Di Angelo) raped Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) in emotional scenes, however never owned up to his crime. Instead, he insisted they had consenting sex.
Dean walked free after a lack of evidence but in January this year, Dean’s past finally caught up with him when he was arrested for the attempted rape of Roxy (Rita Simons).
As the women of Walford prepare for the trial, Ronnie tries to offer pragmatic support to an anxious Roxy about the impending trial.
Linda shares a moment with Shirley as they discuss the trial.
Before the trial, Shirley contemplates buying alcohol to try get her through the testimony, but Denise talks her out of it, reminding her what is important.
Linda reminds Shirley that they’re all counting on her.
After the testimony, Shirley returns home and Mick comforts her after her tough day.
The following day, Linda invites Ronnie, Roxy and Shirley upstairs at the Vic, as they all wait for the news on his trial.
As words are exchanged, Ronnie tells the women that no one is to blame but Dean.
Meanwhile, in the café, Kathy opens up to Buster about her past, telling him she knows exactly what Linda and Roxy are going through.
EastEnders airs these scenes all next week on BBC One and BBC One HD.
