Tonight (Monday 22nd August) it was revealed that EastEnders star Tameka Empson will be taking part in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Empson has played the role of Kim Fox-Hubbard in EastEnders since 2009. During tonight’s episode of The One Show, after weeks of speculation, Tameka was revealed as the fourteenth celebrity that will be competing for the trophy.
Speaking about the competition, she said, “I’ve been waiting for years to take part in Strictly. I’m going to have to work on the Ballroom dance, but jive and Latin I’ll be good at”.
Tameka’s participation comes after Kellie Bright (plays Linda Carter) competed in the competition last year, and finished as a runner up. A year previous, in 2014, Jake Wood (plays Max Branning) competed and he finished in 5th place.
The full lineup for Strictly Come Dancing 2016 has now been revealed, and the launch show airs on Saturday 3rd September, on BBC One.
Here, viewers will be able to see the professional partner that Tameka is paired with, as well as the celebrities performing the first group dance of the series.
EastEnders continues tomorrow night (Tuesday 23rd August) at 7:30pm, on BBC One.
