In tonight’s episode of EastEnders, the Mitchell family’s numbers were decimated, as four characters left the Square.
In the scenes, which aired tonight on BBC One, Grant and Courtney Mitchell left Walford for Portugal, whilst Mark Fowler travelled back to America. Meanwhile, Jay packed his bags, admitting he no longer felt wanted in Walford.
But will any of them be back?!
Grant Mitchell, played by Ross Kemp, returned to the Square for three separate stints this year. The first for Peggy’s exit, and the second and third for more Mitchell drama.
However, it seems like this may very well be the last time we see Grant. Speaking to Digital Spy, Kemp said: “I think they’re done with me. When they invited me back, it was under an old producer – they’ve not mentioned to me that they want me to go back again.”
Still, there’s always a chance that producers could woo Ross back in future – perhaps he’d return should Steve McFadden ever decide to leave the soap?
Grant’s daughter Courtney Mitchell, played by Alice Nokes, also left the Square tonight for Portugal, alongside her dad. Whilst Grant may be gone, we’re not ruling out a return for Courtney any time soon.
The character, and the actress, has already proved very popular with fans, and Nokes seems keen to reprise the role on a full-time basis.
Grant’s long lost son Mark, played by Ned Porteous, also left Walford tonight. However, he was only ever visiting following Phil’s suspicious call last mont – and after discovering the truth about his father, he made his way back to sunny Florida.
There’s currently no word on a return for Mark, but who knows, maybe he’ll be back one day?!
Finally, honorary Mitchell Jay, played by Jamie Borthwick, packed his bag and made his way out of Walford, declaring he felt unwanted.
Yet unlike Grant, Courtney and Mark, Jay is a regular character – and with no word on Jamie leaving as of yet, it seems safe to say he’ll be back.
EastEnders continues Monday at 8PM on BBC One.
