Riley Carter-Millington, who plays Kyle Slater, is set to leave EastEnders after just one year, it has been revealed.

Carter-Millington made television history in the UK by becoming the first transgender actor to play a trans character and, whilst he’s been around almost a year, he was only ever signed up for six months initially.

After impressing soap bosses, his contract was extended by another 6 months.

Speaking to, the actor said: ‘When I landed a 6 month contract at EastEnders it was a dream come true. For that to be extended to a year was something I never expected. However, as the time comes for Kyle to depart Walford I am looking forward to taking on new roles and who knows, Kyle may find his way back to Walford one day.’
