EastEnders surprised viewers on Friday night as another character departed the Square.
Belinda Slater, played by Carli Norris, made the spontaneous decision to go travelling with her best friend from school.
The actress joined the soap in January for a guest stint and, after proving popular with viewers, became a permanent character in the Spring of this year.
Her storylines have included dealing with and coming to terms with her father Charlie Slater’s death and holding her sister Kat responsible, opening up her own beauty salon Elysium and, more recently, enjoying a brief romance with Masood Ahmed, who is also leaving the show.

On her exit, Norris tweeted: “Thank you to all those of you who supported me as Belinda! I loved her and hope to be back one day…but for now, Adieu!”
Belinda is one of the many in a long line of characters currently being written out of the soap by new executive producer Sean O’Connor – who will also be overseeing the exits of fan favourites such as Roxy and Ronnie Mitchell.
EastEnders continues Monday at 8pm on BBC One and BBC One HD.
