Danny Dyer is to take a short break from EastEnders, according to reports.
The 39 year old, who plays Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter in the flagship BBC One soap, is said to be taking a hiatus from the show to ‘sort his life out’.
An EastEnders spokesperson said: “Danny is on a short break from EastEnders. This was not enforced by bosses nor has he quit the show.”
Mick’s temporary exit storyline has yet to be revealed – that is, of course, if writers decide to explain the landlord’s absence. However, as the Queen Vic plays such a pivotal role in the show, EastEndersSpy predicts we’ll be given a little explanation at the very least.
The news come just weeks after Dyer hinted he could leave the show at the end of his current contract, saying: “Four years is a long time. It’s been really rewarding but there’s other stuff out there.”
EastEnders continues Monday at 8pm on BBC One.
