Lee Ryan, member of the British boyband ‘Blue’, is set to make a sensational return to EastEnders this Summer, despite having just left Albert Square a few weeks ago.
The singer and actor’s character, Woody Woodward, was brought to Walford in the absence of Mick Carter – who was written out of the soap to coincide with Danny Dyer’s break. Initially a guest character, show bosses were so impressed with Lee’s performance that they have asked him to make a return to the soap. This time on a more permanent basis.
The Mirror reports that the actor has signed a year-long contract with the soap, securing the character into at least 2018.
Speaking about his return, Lee told the tabloid newspaper: “I’m delighted that EastEnders have asked me to come back.
“It was a dream come true when I landed the role so I am thrilled that this has now turned into something much bigger.
“It has been a surreal experience walking down the road and having people shouting ‘Woody’ at me but I cannot wait to get back in the Square to see what trouble he will cause this time round.”
After making his return from his break, Danny Dyer’s alter-ego Mick threw Woody out of his home and pub, after he caught him sleeping with his daughter-in-law Whitney – with whom he appears to have feelings for. Complicated, right?
EastEnders fans can expect to see Woody back in Walford this Summer, and EESpy understands Lee has already returned to filming. However the reasons for his return currently remain unknown.
