Christmas in Albert Square is never easy. Fights, affairs, break-ups and deaths have become somewhat of a tradition in Walford. And this Christmas was no different…
Max Branning (Jake Wood)’s ex-wife Tanya Cross (Jo Joyner) returned to the Square to let the love rat know she knows he was responsible for Steven’s death and Jane’s departure – and threatened to expose his lies and take her children away.
Broken and distraught, Max headed up to the Queen Vic roof to commit suicide – the same place his son Bradley fell to his death. However, Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald) and Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) headed up to talk him out of it. Initially successful, they attempted to get off the roof when Lauren slipped and fell. Trying to save her sister, Abi grabbed on, sending both sisters plummeting to the ground.
Max was arrested by the police upon arrival, whilst a traumatised Tanya headed to hospital to be with her girls.
Once Max was released – thanks to a video of the girls’ fall, proving his innocence – he arrived at the hospital to bad news.
Lauren began to flatline during surgery, whilst it didn’t look hopeful for Abi either as the doctors did a brain scan, worrying about potential brain damage.
“I need to talk to you about your daughter”, Max and Tanya were told. And the credits began to roll.
The question on everyone’s lips is: which daughter?!
What we know so far is both Branning girls are leaving. A funeral was filmed recently with Jake Wood and Eddie Eyre (who plays Lauren’s boyfriend Josh) in attendance, however, we don’t know if the funeral is definitely one of the girls’. Could someone else die?!
Find out tonight in two episodes – the first at 8pm and the second at 9.30pm on BBC One.
