EastEnders is reportedly set to kill of pensioner Joyce Murray next week as she dies in her sleep, The Sun is reporting.
The character, who first appeared just under a year ago, is played by Maggie Steed, who is reportedly leaving the soap.
Since being rehoused to Albert Square last year, Joyce and her husband Ted were involved in a very brief storyline which saw Ted’s possession of the gun which ultimately shot Johnny Carter and their feud with the Taylor family.
When asked for comment, EastEnders representatives declined to comment.
A source told The Sun that Joyce’s departure will set the stage for the introduction of the couple’s daughter Judith, played by Emma Fielding, saying: “Joyce’s time on the Square has been a brief one and, after her death, Ted will come out of his shell a bit and viewers will see more of him.
“His and Joyce’s daughter Judith will come into play and will be involved in new storylines with the Taylor family.”
EastEnders will have to tune in next week to see how the rumoured storyline plays out.
