EastEnders is to see yet another departure from the show as Richard Blackwood is leaving his role.
Blackwood, who made his debut appearance in the show’s 30th anniversary episodes, has played Vincent for over three years.
His storylines have included his marriage to Kim, becoming a father to Pearl, a fling with the late Ronnie Mitchell and being partially responsible for the death of Fatboy.
His backstory also led to further storylines unravelling, including his father’s feud with the Mitchell family and discovering his mother Claudette killed his father.
His exit is said to be a ‘mutual decision’ between Blackwood and soap bosses. When presented with his final storyline, the actor claimed he knew it was ‘time to leave’.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Richard commented: “I have loved every minute of my time at EastEnders, and although I will be sad to say goodbye, after three years it feels the right time to leave.
“I have been truly blessed with some great storylines since the moment I joined, but when I was presented with my last story, I knew it was time for Vincent to depart Walford.
“I’m now excited about what the future holds”.
EastEnders will air Vincent’s exit later this Spring, as Blackwood has already finished filming.
